How to make potted cherry Laurel bushier

Hello, after recently purchasing our first home (therefore first garden) we are busy making improvements to our garden with zero experience. We bought two Portugueses cherry laurels last year grown on frames as a view protection on our terrace. Both have been repotted into much larger planters and fertilised with an all purpose liquid fertiliser. They wintered outside under a cover (gets down to minus 10 Celsius in winter with us). They seem to have fared well but have emerged with much less leaves than before. What is the best way to get some bushier growth, particularly in the centre of the bush, so that it provides the view protection intended? I am not sure how much we can cut back due to the small size of the bush and the frame. Many thanks in advance!!

They look like Portuguese Laurels. A shrub that will want to get big, even if you keep it within the lattice frame. The containers are too small and has little depth. You can try to prune them down to rejuvenate, but watering will possibly be an issue. Evergreen shrub leaves tend to drop when the plant is suffering from lack of water or confined, and I think you have both of these issues here. Portuguese laurels also prefer some shade in the day. If it is in too much sun, it may not thrive.
