Back of garden starting to overgrow - help :/

I don't know where to start, I was thinking of strimming it but I wouldn't know much else to do.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
Firstly, don't panic. You need to look at this as something that can be dealt with slowly but surely. Don't try and deal with it all in one go but instead pick a place to start, then pull up the weeds, cut back shrubs, and deal with any rubbish from that starting point, gradually working your way across the whole area. An hour here, a few minutes there, and it is amazing how quickly an overgrown piece of garden can be brought under control. If you strim the area you will appear to get rid of the problem but the weeds will just come back.

  • Thank you for this response, progress is key but slowly but surely I should get it right. I hope to start tomorrow by using your advice :)

I sometimes wish I had a garden like this just so I could clear it  :|

  • I'd sat the first thing to do is to identify if there are any really bad weeds and get them out as getting rid of those can take years!  If there's anything which seems to be taking over, take pics and put them on here for ID and advice.  When you've cleared the worst of it, you might find some nice plants sprouting, of which you should take pics and put them on here for ID!

I wouldn't strim anything until all visible rubbish - buckets, frames, timber, bricks, stones - has been removed because stuff can fly off it at odd angles and do you a serious injury.

Make sure you wear good gloves when removing all the crud and decent googles and gloves when strimming and try removing any thicker branches and roots with a pair of decent loppers before you get a strimmer out.
