How can I retrain this shrub if at all?

Hi, we inherited this shrub but I have no idea what it is. Currently, it is growing away from the fence and towards the sun. We'd like to keep it but wonder whether it can be pruned/retrained to encourage it to fatten out both ways. Right now, it seems to be growing upwards and towards the sun which results in this rather odd shape. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Hi - I think it is Choisya Aztec Pearl. It is just about to flower, so best to wait until after that before pruning:
