Sparrows stripping new leaves off acer!

    The sparrows here take the primrose flowers and just leave them on the ground. Did wonder if they were getting the nectar at the bottome but watching them ...no.
    Then the pigoens started taking the flowers on the plums, gages and cherries.....when they have done  that they then wait for the new leaves and take all that they can.
    They don't touch the apple or pear trees.
    Old CDs hung in the trees are working at the moment but when the full leaves come then probably not.

    I've used strips of old carrier bag tied round branches so they flutter in the wind to keep birds off of my cherries and currant bushes it works for a couple of weeks which is all you would need by the sound of it.

    Thank you all for your many replies and experiences!  I do like the carrier bag strips fluttering in the wind idea... It seems I will probably just have to wait it out - but next year I will be early sowing sacrificial peas to keep the critters busy and away from the acer😁. Cheers all!
