Help! Trying to save a transplanted Olive Tree
Hello all! Hoping someone might be able to impart some pearls of wisdom to help save a beloved Olive Tree which recently had to be moved. I’ve had the tree for nearly 10 years and needed to move as was in the way of work that needed to be done in the garden. Did as much as I could at the time to protect the roots (dug large root ball, kept as moist as possible, quick move etc.) - It is now in its own tub and has been there for about 5 weeks. It’s suffered quite severe transplant shock, leaves have curled and turned brown, but they are not shedding.
I’ve been scouring the internet for tips and have over watered for a weeks or so to make sure the roots had ready access to water. Have not fertilised and have not trimmed back and of the branches (mixed advice on whether this is a good thing to do or not). Also seen suggestions of adding some sugar water but have not yet tried it.
A scrape on any of the branches reveals a reassuring and vibrant green, so I am not giving up hope. Any hints / tips on how to keep the dream alive for this lovely tree? Would be so sad to lose it. Thank you, one and all!
