Fern for pot?

Hi all, I'd like to recreate this container arrangement for a north facing spot. I'm just wondering what fern would be right to create a 'fringe' effect like in the photo but which won't get so big it becomes a problem. I believe the one in this pic is a Boston fern but I looked it up and it seems it can get very large. Any thoughts?

Polypodium vulgare will stay small. I've got some Drypoteris erythrosora which has stayed a reasonable size, remember you can divide a fern and replant the chunks if they get too big.

Although Polystichum polyblepharum is shown to grow larger in the link below, mine (in the ground, north facing, been planted for 4 years now) have remained about half the eventual height and spread:
