Any ideas

Anyone have any ideas with this area. It has manhole cover so I cannot use concrete.

    What do you want to use the area for? At the moment it looks like a rather bare flowerbed with a barbecue parked in the middle, which I assume isn't what you're aiming for. And how does it fit into the overall garden? I can see what looks like the edge of a patio to the left and the edge of a lawn to the right, but it's not clear how big they are, or whether the gravel in the foreground is a path or a bigger area.
    Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
