How to keep Variegated eleagnus variegated?

I have  a few eleagnus bushes. Needing to keep them cut back I'm having more green left than Variegated. How can I manage them so they are the right size and Variegated? Thanks.

    Cut out all green stems right back to their base as soon as you spot them.  They will take all the vigour and energy from the variegated stems if you don't.  Just taking the tips off the longer variegated stems should encourage it to bush out.
