Larvae in new micro pond

Hi all, a couple of weeks ago my daughter and I made our very first micro pond inspired by one of the posts in the problem solving discussions. It was so easy to do and  it's been a delight to see how many birds it attracts day after day. Today we discovered some white pea sized larvae at the bottom. Would any of you be able to ID them for us?

Can't really tell from the picture. Do they have little tubes leading up to the surface? (Rat-tailed maggots)

  • Hi Loxley. No, they're round shaped and white. More petit pois than pea 😆
Hope this picture is a bit better
  • A follow up picture from the pond. Could this be a newt larvae?
