Can't help with runners as I don't grow them but I have only just sown some potimarron and think there's still time to sow cucs and courgette but you'll need to keep them cosy while they germinate and get to a decent size for planting out.

Frosts can happen until mid May or later depending on where you are so don't be in a hurry to plant them out and make sure you harden them off for a week or so first.

I'm up North. Down to 1 degree on Wednesday too. I've got Courgettes in 9cm pots in a plastic bag under light to help with germination. Got cucumbers on conservatory table too.... Should be OK?

They don't need light to germinate as the seed is under the compost.  They need warmth and moisture and light only when they germinate.

I have my seeds on a heated mat along with tomatoes and chillies and under a plastic lid.  Works for me.   They won't go outside till night time temps are at least 8C.

Yeah,  my grow lights kick out a bit more heat than in the conservatory I think. And I mist them morning and evening. Is it too late to do Tomatoes from seed now?

Mine have been sown a couple of weeks now so I reckon you should have a go.

I'd normally start them much earlier but it's been too cold to be able to move them on and keep them warm as mine have to go from heated germination trays to unheated polytunnel so I've waited for things to warm up a bit.   Even so, they won't be going down the polytunnel till later this week.

I actually did a reserve batch 4 days ago from seed. Am I better putting them from seed trays into my greenhouse when they get bigger? Give them as much light as poss?

I have the reserve tomato plants currently germinating on conservatory table if you mean that...

The Courgettes & Runners were in my raised beds.

Far too early,  I sow my runners on the 1st May then plant them, French beans and tomato plants out in June,   courgettes the same,  being up north you may need to wait a bit later than that.

Do you direct sow the Runners? Or do them under glass etc then pot them on & go from there?

When would you sow tomato seeds in that case?
