WEEDS IN GRAVEL

I have a lawn surrounded by a gravel bed. There is a problem with weed (photo attached) growing in amongst the gravel.
Last year I sprayed the weed with roundup weedkiller. It cured the problem temporarily but although I sprayed on a windless day some of the solution got on to the lawn & I had to reseed patches of lawn.
The weed has reappeared.
I recently sprayed with Weedol lawn weedkiller - no effect as you can see after 3 weeks.
Any suggestions please.?

I do mine on my hands and knees. I kneel on an old cushion, I wear rubber gloves and I pull them up. Very satisfying, gardening 😊

That's speedwell which seeds everywhere like crazy so while you may have zapped the plants with something toxic, the seeds can hide deep down amongst the pebbles until conditions are right. They will come up every spring unless you can break the flower-seed-grow cycle. I'm with Dove on pulling them up by hand but I suppose it rather depends on the size of the area you are dealing with. Can't understand why your application of Weedol hasn't worked but the plants are looking a bit unhealthy.

Yes weeds come up everywhere.  Best way is get on your knees every few weeks and remove by hand.
  • Thank you both, I may try a stronger mix of weedol first, but if it fails I'll have to weed as "Dove" suggests.

Even if you kill them with weedkiller you still have to remove them ... they don't disappear into thin air ... so why do two jobs when one will get the result you need?

Glyphosate weed killers (the typical and main option) take 3 weeks or so to show they are working.  Best application is the day after some rain or so.  The weed killer must be applied when the weed is actually growing, else the weed doesn't take it in, and it doesn't do much.

There is pelagonic acid (Neudorff) that works similarly to glyphosate in that the weed must be growing to take it in, and it kills from the inside (systemic).

The best and safest method for weed control is physical removal as others say.  Sometimes we just want an easy life, especially if we have trouble getting low or have a large area to clear.  So much stuff has been banned, and most of the time it's for a darn good reason.

Try using a milk carton cut down in half as a spray shield.  Should help keep the spray from going everywhere.
Also, providing you use thick waterproof gloves, you can sponge on the weed killer with an old bath sponge.

Sorry, I have no specific advice for this particular weed.
