A question about Lonicera

I want to plant something at the base of my Lonicera to shade the roots form the sun without disturbing the plant or using too many of the nutrients in the soil. I thought nasturtiums, with the large leaves might work. Any thoughts about this?

    Welcome to the forum.
If you are worried about plants stealing nutrients from your lonicera, you could try mulching the area which will help to keep in moisture. Use bark chippings and they will eventually rot down into the soil.
  • in my experience hardy geranium macrorrhizum enjoy living under climbers. Frankly i would fear vigorous lonicera stealing nutrients from other plants not other way round...
