Hose gun problem

I have a hose that when connected with a no stop connector doesn't leak however when spray gun is attached the water leaks profusely from the connection end of gun. I have tried several makes, plastic and alloy guns, all new, and same problem occurs with each. Hose connector on own doesn't leak at all. Any advice ?

It sounds like the issue is with the female connector, so try swapping it for a different brand.  The 'hozelock' type connectors from different manufacturers all vary slightly and some work better than others.

Also check that the male connector on the gun is firmly screwed on. I bought a new spray gun recently (cheap as chips, admittedly) and it leaked loads, then I realised that its connector wasn't tightened fully. After I fixed that, it was fine. I also find it quite hard to get the gun (any gun, I have a pricey one as well) attached properly to the hose while the water is on, even with a no-flow connector on the hose end, but maybe that's my puny hands not pushing hard enough. I find it much easier to get it attached firmly first and then turn on the water at the tap

  • Thanks folks. We have replaced the female end from hoselock to cheapoes, plastic to metal and open to no stop. We have a slight improvement with continuous open but the water still leaks at joint between connector and gun. Seriously annoying
