    Erythronium ... probably Erythronium ‘Pagoda’.

    @Dovefromabove - thank you so much! You are entirely correct and I see from my records I bought an Erythronium ‘Pagoda’ from Beth Chatto's garden exactly three years ago this week. I'm not sure I've seen it flower since 2018.

    Sounds like I need to go and stand guard over it from mice and snails. I'm amazed it's come up as I'd planted catnip very near this spot last autumn and our cat plus three neighbours' cats are constantly rolling on it and chewing it. I keep chasing them off as I want them to allow the catnip to establish itself. Maybe they're protecting the Erythronium from mice! 

    It's also right next to our deck and I think I lot of mice live under there - maybe not my wisest of planting places!

    My pleasure ... I have one planted in a very unprepossessing patch of 'wilderness' behind the wildlife pond ... it pushes it's way through the hardy geraniums and 'stuff' and appears every year ... gorgeous.  :)

    Strange you should say about mice eating Erythronium. We lost almost all crocus to mice in our last garden, but the Erythroniums were never touched and spread like weeds.
    We have a few dozen of them here now and nothing much seems to attack them.
