What summer flowering hanging basket plants are hardy perennials?

If there aren’t any what ones are half hardy and how should they be protected in winter?

    Fuchsia is one that comes immediately to mind along with geranium/pelargonium.

    I have variegated ivy, pelargoniums and lobelia then add one other to finish off. The baskets are overwintered in a cold greenhouse and the ivy is OK, the pelargoniums mostly (although a damp winter is a problem) and the lobelia self seed ready to be transplanted when I refresh the baskets.

    I cover the losses on the pelargoniums by taking cuttings (in the middle of that now) from others that are in pots.
