Cornus hardwood cuttings problem
I’m hoping someone can help me understand what’s going on with the hardwood cuttings of Cornus Midwinter Fire. I took them in late January and placed them in potting compost in my unheated greenhouse. I watered from time to time to them to keep them moist. They were fine for for a good couple of months and leaves developed on all the cuttings and they looked really healthy. Then in the last month I noticed that the cuttings were slowly going black from the base upwards, eventually causing the growth the die off.
It is happening slowly to each one and I am gutted! What could have caused this?

in the ground and left alone was the GW approach.
That said Ive only had one cutting take out of twelve...the rest succumbed as yours did. If they don’t root, they’ll eventually rot. Why they don’t root, I don’t know.
