My palm is dying 😢

I think my palm is dying. It’s recently developed what looks like black dust/dirt under its leaves and yellowing/whitening primarily on the underside. It also has a couple arms which are turning brown. I’ve tried to check the roots, but not really sure what I’m looking for. I’ve attached a couple photos.

  • That's the result of a severe red spider mite attack. You can treat your plant for the mite, but it will be this seriously affected because of dry air, insufficient food and water. You can try standing it in a shallow saucer of water (propped up on pebbles so the lower roots don't rot), and giving it regular weak feeds. It shouldn't get soggy nor should it dry out completely. Move it, if you can, to a cooler more humid spot.

It also looks rather pot bound - maybe repot with fresh compost into a larger pot?
  • Thanks for the advice.

Cambridgerose 12 - It's interesting you say it due to lack of water as the base of the plant feels quite moist and the pot it's in has holes at the bottom.
