Dividing supermarket parsley and corriander

Hi all I've done the trick of dividing and potting on basil from the supermarket but can I do the same with parsley and corriander ? If so should I cut it back 1st or leave in full leaf ? Any help as always greatly appreciated

I always cut back when I divide parsley. The roots are really crowded and they get damaged quite a bit, so it’s better if they don’t have too much top growth to sustain.

Agree with @pitter-patter - trying to disentangle the leaves as well as the roots usually result in damage ( and frustration ! ).  I find it much easier to cut back the leaves and then divide.
I've only done Basil and Coriander from seed but I suspect the principle is the same as with the parsley.

I just tear the pots into 4 or 8 depending on the size and plant them out I suspect one loses quite a few plants but there are so many in each pot I never notice.

With parsley, I just put the whole plant into a bigger pot or into the ground.
I only do this when I've used most of the leaves in cooking and the rest have gone manky so I suppose I do trim them
    In London. Keen but lazy.
