Unhappy Jasmine - what am I doing wrong?

my jasmine is on my balcony, south facing, and isn’t happy. The leaves are brown as you can see from the picture. I probably water once  a week, with plant feed during spring months. Do I need to water less, more, feed it something else? Cut it down?

Your advice more than welcome 🙏

That looks like damage from frost or cold wind, or both to me. Don't water every week: stick a finger in the compost and if the top couple of inches feel rather dry, water it. If it feels wet, come back in a day or two and try again.

Let it grow out of it in the next few weeks and prune out the unsightly parts that remain once the weather warms up

I agree - your trachelospermum jasminoides (Star Jasmine) has been nipped by frost.
It should be ok. The affected leaves will drop eventually.

  • Thanks everyone for all the responses!

  • Thanks for this good advice, we were extremely worried that we might lose this plant as the smell of it in full bloom is something to cherish.

So many plants have struggled with cold air in the last few weeks and Jasmine is more vunerable than most.  The air has been dry and there has been little rain so lots of things seem to be just 'sitting there'.

Balconies are also inclined to be windy, and that can be a factor.
