Can anyone give me some advice to stop what is happening in my garden please ? : Yesterday I removed all the  plants from my small galvanised bath "pond" to remove dead foliage and general grime and slime. I replaced all the plants and refilled the "pond".
The photo attached shows what I saw on opening by back door this morning ! All plants and the basket they were in had been removed and left on the path. The individual baskets are quite heavy as they are packed with roots in thoroughly wet aquatic soil. Surely this could not have been caused by a fox could it ? If so, does anyone have any ideas how I can prevent this happening again, without hvaing to resort to putting a wire framework over the top. I had no issues last year. Incidentally, there is no access to this part of the garden except through the house, so I can rule out human vandalism !  SORRY ,now realise I have posted in the wrong category , can't figure out how to move it.

Do you have badgers? They are pretty strong and maybe fancied a nose around in wet mud looking for worms?

Category doesn't really matter as most of us just go to Recent Discussions for latest posts.  However, a clearer title will attract the posters who know your problem best.

Other than a very determined badger or heavy fox which may have tipped up the planter when clambering its way out cos the scape ladder is not well angled I can only assume a hooman has climbed over your fence and been a vandal but can't think why.   Maybe you need a CCTV or trail camera.

  • Thanks for the suggestions. I live in quite a built up area , the nearest park is 200metres away and I cant believe there are badgers there as it has a childrens playground so I'm doubtful about it being badgers,. I think it must be delinquent foxes , because today I was tidying up my flower garden and found: a dishcloth( not mine!), a whole egg ( complete with date stamp) and a dog's plaited toy about 30cms long, all buried in different parts of the garden !!
  • I concurr, I have foxes at the bottom of the garden and frequently find dog toys, balls, chews and sometimes more random objects such as packed lunches and used nappies !!! I have also found various eggs burried in tubs and planters.

Pottering in the garden a while ago I noticed my dog digging in a veg bed.
Then I noticed a bit of silver paper. I went to investigate and it was a whole wrapped camembert that had been buried!

It was still in date and smelt ok so I.......
