Phoenix palm
My Phoenix palm doesn't seem to be doing too well I'm not sure if it's dead or if there's something that can be done to resurrect it. As you can see from the photos the central leaves are brown and look as if they've been severely windburn. Is there anything I can do. Should I or can I cut the central's and would new ones come through?

You should definitely prune out any dead or diseased branches. Apart from looking less unsightly, it will open the plant up to air and light, which will help stimulate new growth.
With our palms (of any variety), I usually remove any stalks/leaves down at ground level. That's just a personal preference, I think it looks better. I also remove some leaves from the centre of the plant, especially if it is very congested. This isn't necessary, but I just prefer them to have a more open habit.
