Horse Manure

Hi there.

I have been offered some well rotted horse manure that I would like to dig into my veg patch but it's pure poo, it doesn't have any bedding in it, straw/wood shavings.  Is it ok to use or will it still be too strong?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the Forum.
If it's " well rotted" it'll be fine.
Do you know old is it?

I'm not sure exactly, my neighbour keeps horses in the field next to us and she makes a pile, lets it rot, makes a separate pile next to it etc. So should be months old at least.  Would that be ok?

I'd want it a year old personally.
Can you take it and stack it for a while longer? Builders' dumpy sacks are great
