Gardening trousers?

I know I saw a thread here a while ago that had some promising leads but of course I can't find it now.

I am looking for women's trousers for outdoor work (though I'd get men's if necessary). My problem is that I'm too fat and tall for all the standard UK brands that I can think of. Does anyone know where I could find some reasonably durable trousers, ideally with some stretch, in a UK 24 and at least a 30" inseam? Most brands only go up to a 20.

Don't know if this is the one you were thinking off.

    Try these

I have never bought their trousers but I can vouch for the excellent quality of their shirts and smocks.

    More choice here

Alas, that was the thread @K67 but whatever ones I saw must be gone now as I don't see anything on the yarmo site that would work.

I buy jogging trousers (mens', the baggy sort) from M&S. They are stretchy, warm, comfortable and can be popped in the wash millions of times before they wear out. Cheap, too.

I'm a bloke, but you've said you would consider men's trousers.  The most comfortable I have are Craghopper Classic Kiwi which will certainly give you the leg measurement.  They also have elastication in the waist up to at least 42".  Sorry I don't know how that equates to ladies sizes.

Have a look at Portwest trousers. They have this one for example but not in stock at the moment though. Not sure what you mean by work trouser.
The reviews suggest they come out on the small side and you need the next size up.
Also a men's trouser with stretch here

  • Try somewhere like Screwfix or Tool station. I recently got a a pair of work pants from Lidl. Deep pockets, knee pad sleeves - Great for the garden.

Men's joggers from Sainsburys (Tu) are pretty good. Last for ages and have real pockets plus the fabric is a hundred times better than that used for the women's joggers.
