Gro-sure farmyard manure

I recently purchased gro-sure farmyard manure and it smelt like fresh manure, after opening it at home, I called the garden centre and they advised it is safe to use in my garden and potted magnolia tree with a mix of John innes no3 compost. I watered my tree today and the manure smell and water came out of the bottom of the pot. I am not sure whether I should leave it in the pot or repot it with a different compost. I have another bag of farmyard manure which I have left unopened in my shed. I am hoping that over time it will rot down in the compost bag and reduce the smell. What should I do?

  • Leave it, it'll be fine.

I put a thick layer of it on my raspberry bed over winter. Very strong smell that I noticed for a week or so before it eased off (or I just got used to it 😂) daffodils I planted in there have come up fine and raspberries started to shoot so all good. Think I'd be worried more if it didn't smell
  • Hope I get the same results as you with my plants.  The last bag I bought didn't smell at all. Maybe it was older stuff and this is more fresh!
