dwarf beans in fibre pots

Hi, I've got  several 3"  fibre pots with two dwarf beans growing in each. I sowed them 4 weeks ago, so they are over 8" tall now.   My problem is how to separate them to pot on in final bigger clay pots without damaging the roots which are growing through the fibre pots. If I just sink each fibre pot into a new pot they'll be too close together.  Any suggestions please?

You would normally plant 2 seeds in each small pot and pull out (ie sacrifice) the weakest if both germinate.  You can either cut one off where it emerges from the soil now, or plant them both as they will still crop just fine, given sufficient soil and water.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • Thanks for the information. I may just sink the fibre pot into a bigger clay pot then if you think they’ll be ok so close together.

I'm sure they'll be fine as beans naturally grow close together in nature - basically where the seeds fell last year. :)
