Christmas Cactus

I have a cactus that looks similar to yours Snazzle, quite large, pendulous and in places a bit woody, . It is about 20 years old and flowers frequently throughout the year, kind of whenever it thinks it will!  I feed it with a general houseplant feed, put it in the conservatory during the winter so it gets lots of light and water it most weeks, like Ditsy with a long soak in the sink.  I have taken loads of shoots off, and used those that have fallen off.  I put them in water on a north facing windowsill and keep topping up the water into there are good roots, then pot then on.

Not sure that anything I do is right or according to experts, but it seems to work.

Mine has been in the greenhouse all summer, has budded up nicely so I've brought it in. The problem now is not changing the orientation to the window, or all the  flower buds try to follow the light and drop off.

I think the one in the OP needs repotting.  I would take it out of the pot and look,  I suspect it all roots and no soil.

I’d better move mine to somewhere sunny!
  • Don’t repot it yet tho’ … wait until it’s finished flowering. 😊
