Ground Elder

Is there anything that kills this stuff other than a flame thrower ?
It’s starting to come up, thru weed suppressing membrane and gravel

Glyphosate based weedkillers will work, but you have to wait until it is growing strongly, ideally just as it starts to flower, then spray the lot and wait until it has gone brown, dry and crisp before removing the top growth.  By then, the weedkiller will have moved down to the roots and will kill most of them.  You'll need to keep treating regrowth, probably for several years, before it gives up completely.  However, if it's coming in from outside your property, new roots will creep back in from the same source.

Best option is to dig, dig and keep digging the retched stuff out.

Another vote for glyphosate, it's probably worth clearing the bed so that you can spray off the G.E. for a full season to really get on top of it before planting anything.

Thanks both, clearing the bed isn’t really an option as it’s all under membrane and gravel

By clearing the bed I mean remove plants you want to keep, that's all. (Obviously not trees and large shrubs).

But it's probably worth removing the gravel and membrane if you want to do a thorough job.
