Palm flowers

Moved into a house just under a year ago - there is a large which promptly developed huge pods which produced masses of small yellow flowers and I presume seeds. Looks like they are just beginning to appear again.
I read somewhere that these could (or should) be removed before they develop very far. Does anyone know what the best thing to do is?

  • A large tree or shrub?  A photo would be helpful.

Does look similar (except not nearly as tall ) - just found a photo from last year - actually any hints about how to look after it would be gratefully received

Yes same plant. Have a look here http://www.terracegardener.co.uk/about_plants/about_chusan.php for care info.

Maybe not in your case but you can scrape off a few inches of soil and replace with fresh.
Not familiar with their soil requirements so can't advise on what to use or whether a mulch of manure would be suitable.

I think that would be a good idea - suspect it would benefit. Quite expensive stuff was put in the garden but not fed or given much attention
