Hi @Altis1724  and welcome to the forum 😊

It could be JKW, but it’s a bit soon to tell. What else is growing in the vicinity?  Can we see some photos of the location please ... that might give us some clues.

  • Bugger! Thanks for the help. Wasn't sure as looked a lot redder and leaves looked different to pictures I'd seen online.

I’m wondering if it could be a tree sucker  ... that’s why I would like to see what else is growing there.

Have you had JKW growing there before? Was it treated professionally? If so it could be covered by a warranty.

  • Hi and thanks @Dovefromabove.
It's growing in the hedge bottom of an elderly relative's house. There's about 3 or 4 like that over a 3 metre area. There's a couple of stumps also that have had normal weedkiller on them and been cut back in the past but relative was unaware what it was.

JKWs are just sprouting in our area. Look exactly like yours.
  • Only spotted it as they were hoping to put a drive in the affected area.

It will have to be dealt with. If it’s possible to dig it out with a digger you should be aware that there are regulations about how it should be disposed of.

Well they need  to get it seen to as it will easily come up through a drive.
