Hedge

Hi everyone, this is my first time on this site and i'm looking forward to getting feedback and advice.  I am a novice gardener and the hedge in my front garden looks like this.  Can anybody please tell me what hedge this is and if it is diseased.

    No, it’s not disease. It looks like the effects of some stress on the plant last year or earlier. I’d trace the branch back and cut it out. Then give the base of your hedge a bit of a mulch and feed. Privet is amazingly tough.
