Basil Leaves falling off

Hi. My healthy looking basil plant just shed more than a third of it's leaves from me touching it. I give it nutrients and water regularly and indoor full spectrum. No visible browning, wilting etc. Anyone know why?

Is this on mature plants or seedlings?

  • Thanks for your response. It's a mature plant. Almost 2 feet tall.

    Thanks. It's actually warm.

Does it sit on a windowsill at night?

Thanks. It actually sits on a table with full spectrum lights

Hmm not really. It drinks up all the water in 12 hours. Thanks

    Has it flowered?
Once they produce flowers they will start to die.
    They are annual plants

If not, a photo may help us provide a better diagnosis

  • Thank you. My hubby said it flowered but I didn't see it flower. I did trim the roots because I noticed they were a light brown. Here is a picture of it now. It has been only about 6-7 months growing from seed.

Nooooo!  It’s exciting ... that’s what growing things is about ... some plants only last one growing season ... you’ve done well to keep that one going for so long 😊
