Morning all, I imagine growing strawberries in the garden uncovered would be just bird foodand we have loads of those hanging? so maybe the greenhouse or create a cloche on the allotment we have just got, SO has anyone got any advise of which Strawberries seeds to buy for the allotment and which for the greenhouse?, were trying growing as the strawberries we purchased in the last few years were just rubish and tasteless,  so any advise on best way of growing and feeding would be appreciated.

I have never grown from seed, too impatient, but I agree that the first years crop is not as good. That is why I use those plants in late summer to produce runners, staking them into pots, and when plants have established then cutting them from the parent plant. They then go into a sheltered corner of the garden over winter. This gives good sized plants ready to plant in spring where you want them. It's only in the second and third year that the crop improves, and during that time I replace about a third each year. And yes you will need to net them if you want to eat any.😁

I've had a few types but never had one that stood out.
