Does anyone grow medlar trees?

I have never eaten medlar fruit and will have no qualms if I never do so in the future. That said, I found this BBC article interesting.

I have a Medlar tree for 4 years now  - gives a lot of fruit, meddler jelly is really nice, but also it's a good conduit to bring flavours together esp in deserts when using spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg etc. It also works in middle eastern cuisine for the same reason.

We have had a medlar for some time now in the garden.
Great flowers and lovely foliage but they do seem to decide that growing at an angle is a good thing !!!
Yes we make jelly from them but also membrillo (Spanish "cheese").
We are very lucky to have some neighbours who love them but don't have the trees in their garden so we can share the fruit.
A good fruit tree to have as @batwood14 said.

No but I've seen them, and if I was after a rustic looking, characterful small tree it would be high on my list.
