To cut or not to cut?

I planted my Japonica Spiders web a couple of weeks ago, and now the new growth appears to have been damaged and killed off by frost over the past 2 nights......Should I remove the blackened leaves and their stems and hope new growth will appear, or leave it alone????

I'd leave it be till this latest cold spell is over so that the existing foliage protects the new shoots below from further damage.   Cut off damaged stems at the base when the cold snap is over.
