Bones in the compost

Baking in an oven doesn't get rid of bones. Sitting in normal ph earth for 100 years doesn't get rid of them either. That's why we have all the forensic pathology series and films about "concrete shoes" and disolving baths of sulphuric acid.

Apparently pigs can't digest human teeth but can happily chomp on everything else. Rats have harder teeth than humans, so probably could digest ours.

Archaeologists would confirm that bones take quite some time to turn into compost.

Indeed. I personally have excavated plenty of bones, both human and animal, that were hundreds and even thousands of years old. Acidic soil would rot them faster but probably wouldn't be great compost.

On the other hand it could be quite entertaining for a future gardener to come across a cache of bones in the flower beds.
