Japanese roof ‘iris cruella’

Another problem is these iris (tectorum variegata) cruella I planted out last year.
They are in well draining soil, autumn winter partial shade due to lower sun and summer mostly full sun. They took a battering this winter and look rather sorry for themselves now. Any tips to get them back to health. Thank you In Advance.

I have one of these and suggest you cut the dead growth off and use some twiggy sticks as stakes to hold them upright. That's what I did with mine but only had them since last summer so can't tell you any more than that.
  • Thanks Angelicant. I’ll give it a go 🤞

as no one answered I’ve cut one right back and the other stripped the dead leaves etc as above message but it doesn’t look like it’ll come again. Oh well, time will tell 😌

If it's not too late I have several of these iris, and they have only flourished here in containers, I can't seem to grow them in my garden soil, so this year I've potted them for the second time into containers that hold their roots comfortably with good well -drained compost. I'm going to keep them in containers as transferring them into the garden doesn't seem to work. Hope this helps, they are very nice plants.
