Topiary

Hello. Another advice post if I may... this topiary never seems to grow- I water but not too much, it’s in a sunny spot but it always stays pretty sparse. Tips? Many thanks!

There is some life there but there is a lot of dead stuff too. Clear out the weeds growing on the soil surface and cut out all the dead bits. That should give you a better view of what has survived.
Your idea of not too much water may have been not nearly enough - a pot in a sunny position would need daily watering as a minimum. Has it ever been fed?
  • Thank you, I will get on with clipping out the dead bits and clear the soil. Not given food either so will also do that today. Thanks!

I'd give up and buy something else.

@Hostafan1 is right.   Box is just not worth the hassle anymore.  The nearest similar looking plant that we have found is Euonymus Green Spire.

Lonicera nitida Baggesen's Gold makes a great topiary specimen.

  • Every cloud has a silver lining!
  • Ok thanks, interesting. I think I’ll persevere as I do already have them and it’s worth a go. Then look at alternatives if no luck..!

IMHO, you're " flogging a dead horse ", but persevere by all means.  ;)
