Fair enough but twice a day seems excessive to me. If you are being really cautious then daily for a week,  then start to stretch out,  alternate days, every 3rd etc. Be guided by how it looks check the joints to see that they are not dry.

Rectangular sprinkler is certainly the way to go with that shape of lawn.  When we had ours done I moved the sprinkler roughly every hour to a new section.  I would have thought twice a day would only be needed if weather warms considerably.
Thanks. Ill think Ill get one. (Ill probably have to wait until the lawn is safe to walk on before I can actually start to use it).

The forecast for the next week is - although sunny/overcast - is sub 10 degrees. So perhaps I can get away with just one watering per day?

Walking on the lawn just to position the sprinkler won't do it any harm.  I had a new lawn laid and there was no option as it was fence to fence and nearly 100 feet long.

You'll be fine to walk on it to put a sprinkler out, don't worry. Also, twice a day isn't needed. We're not in the throes of a hot summer remember, a new lawn won't dry out the same way.

A good watering with a sprinkler every two days, any time of day just now, will be fine.
