Patio redesign

Hi, I’m having my patio relaid and want to include a veg patch- something similar to the picture attached. We have the option to pave first and put a raised bed on top, or build the bed first and pave around it. I prefer the first option as it’s less restrictive/permanent but I’m concerned about drainage as it will obviously have a closed bottom. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    I’d advise against paving over first. It will indeed cause drainage issues, I think. Growing in raised beds isn’t the same as growing in containers, which is what you’d get effectively if you put the planter onto a paved area.
