Shrub Covered in dusty residue

Hi all

I have a shrub (I don't know what sort it is) in my garden  that I was pruning today and found that is was covered in this dusty residue. Is this something I should address or can it just be left? Any thoughts would be appreciated, also if anyone knows what sort of shrub it is I'd love to know!

Thanks, Chris

  • That's a natural feature of the shrub. I think it is Eleagnus x ebbingei, though I've never seen berries on mine. But definitely an Eleagnus, and this is how their leaves look.
  • Wonderful, yes, that looks like it's exactly what it is. It's good there's no problem to resolve! Many thanks for your response.
