Identification please

Identification please. My eighty year old mother fell over these and gashed her leg some months ago. We have removed them from the garden and replanted. She can’t remember what they were. Any ideas appreciated. Being upside down adds to the mystery. Sorry.

Very possibly an old hydrangea? Did it ever have big pink or blue flowers?

I would guess hydrangea as well  :).
Hope your Mum is okay now.
  • Yes she is ok now thankyou after ten odd nurse visits to dress the wound..I see what. You mean about the leaf and being a hydrangea. She says so really doesn’t think so..... who knows . Thankyou for the suggestion.
  • Rose?
  • Oh very exciting. Will take another photo when it gets a bit bigger. It is such a big plant mum must have noticed it at Some point!
  • Well I am beginning to think it is a plum tree that mum has pruned very heavily. So if that is the case My next Question  Is whether it will recover and be worth keeping and anything* I can do to help it a bit.
