Urgent advice needed please.

I have a Jasmine growing over a pergola which was wonderful all last summer and still flowered through the winter until we had snow 😩. It has all turned completely brown.  I have started pruning it back ( hoping it wasn’t dead). I now realise that there is still life so need to know how far back to prune.  I don’t really have a clue what I’m doing.  Would cutting it pretty much right back to its base be best?  I would be very grateful for any advise you can give, (The green you can see at the back is a clematis which is doing fine) Thank you.

With the risk of frost being forecast for pretty much any part of the country over the next few weeks, I'd leave any pruning until things warm up again.  It should start shooting when 'proper' spring arrives and you can cut back any obviously dead parts at that point.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • Thanks for that Bob. I will leave it until later then.  Lots of other jobs to be getting on with. Eileen.
