How deep to plant Nerines

  I planted mine in the garden last year and had the tops just showing. The standard pink ones all came up and flowered profusely in the autumn, but only 2 of the 5 white ones did (I think it was the conditions though, rather than the planting method).

  Nerines like to be pot bound and planted with the necks above soil level.

  Ok, thanks, snouts-out it is then. 

  Carmarthenshire (mild, wet, windy). Loam over shale, very slightly sloping, so free draining. Mildly acidic or neutral.

  We have planted very deeply, and near the surface.  As long as they had good drainage, all survived, thrived and flowered.  In the case of Nerine's, I don't think there is a "right" answer.
