Hello all, I found this in a friend's garden today.  She didn't know what it was.  I thought it was Hepatica.  But having looked them up this evening the leaf is all wrong.  The leaves on this plant are soft and feathery, very similar to Anemone blanda.  Any suggestions..?  Many thanks.

    Anemonoides nemorosa, the wood anemone?

Oh pitter-patter, well done! Thanks so much.  They're utterly beautiful.  I may have to find out how to get some for my own garden.  Hers were in full sun in gravel and thriving.  She doesn't even remember buying them but they weren't there last year..!  Many thanks again.

You’re welcome. They are beautiful indeed.
  • It is Anemone nemorosa and it looks to be a variety like ‘Allenii’ which has pale lilac flowers. Usually they are white.

Thanks Cambridgerose12.  I also looked it up because the ones I was finding on google were all white.  I agree, it does look like Allenii.  It was utterly beautiful but I think I'd like to grow it in shade as I'd like it to be a bit hidden away, it has that kind of look about it to me, something I'd like to see hidden a bit under a deciduous tree in Spring.  Thanks again.
