Yellow/brown spots on lemon tree

Hi all, my lemon tree had a problem with aphids last year which I had resolved through this forum. Now however, the leaves have some odd spots on them as per the below image. This is mainly on the lower half of the tree, the upper ones aren't affected yet. It did have a lemon fruit from last season still on, but recently this became quickly covered in deep black markings before falling off.

It seems to be a very difficult plant to look after, and I am not obviously doing a good enough job which is upsetting. If you have any diagnosis/resolutions for this issues it would be great to hear them.

Thanks,
James

Are the leaves sticky to touch, have you looked underneath the leaves at all?

You may have sooty mould from scale insects

Hi, the leaves aren't sticky to touch. Underneath the leaves just seems to show the same markings as on top of the leaves
  • Not an easy one to keep,I had one in Spain and even there it was a temperamental thing. Yet the uncared for lemon grove just up the road did very well, always lemons to be had free!
Lidls nearby, have poor little orange trees outside, whats the betting they are left out during this next cold snap,1° forecast here.😒
