Wisteria Root
We have a wisteria that has been growing for at least 30 years. For the first 15 years it was a robust well behaved plant. Then it "died" sort of. All the foliage and the trunk just died and was easy to pull out. Then it came back to life with a vengeance. It throws shoots out by the dozen but with patience it is controllable. The problem is the roots have formed a large tuber under the path and is lifting the slabs. Can I cut back this tuber. I seem to remember seeing on TV someone cutting back a tuber and painting it, but I cannot remember any details. Any help appreciated.
