Column fruit tree growing out not up help

Hi everyone,
I purchased 4 column trees and planted them last spring. My plum tree is growing out and not up. I’m looking for some advice for what to do with it please.

I have attached some pictures. It is the middle tree in the picture

thank you

It doesn't look like they have been pruned yet. Some useful info on what to do here https://www.chrisbowers.co.uk/article/the-essential-guide-to-columnar-fruit-trees/

  • thank you no I haven’t pruned them I’m scared of killing them il read the article. Thank you again

You will need to be brave or maybe get someone else to do the pruning when the time comes. All those branches will need to be cut back to just a few inches to give you a columnar tree. Done at the right time it won't kill the tree.

Are you sure they are column fruit trees and not dwarfing fruit trees?. The reason I ask is because I can see that someone has cut the leader out which will naturally cause the other branches to grow out. Another branch can be trained as a leader cut it won't really be a column as such.

I think there's been a mistake somewhere and you have dwarf apples.
