Planting Inspiration - Climbers! :)

Hi all,

I am going to erect a trellis on the wall below and am looking for ideas for fast growing colourful annual climbers that i can plant in a pot and let race up the trellis and bring colour to this drab part of the garden. It gets full sun from dawn until 1500.

I'd love more than one plant to offer variety in flower, leaf and maybe texture.

All help gratefully received.

Sweet Peas and Morning Glory are the first that spring to mind.

Thunbergia alata ... Black eyed Susan
Varied shades of Orange and apricots available ... twines up canes like runner beans.

It's a bit late for sowing sweet peas (maybe next year, or you could buy young plants if a local garden centre has any) but morning glories would like it there. They come in mostly blues and purples, and there's also the Spanish Flag, Ipomaea lobata, which is red and yellow. For something different, you could include an outdoor cucumber.

I think I would do two or three big pots and let the plants mingle on the trellis.
