Summer bulbs in containers

Hi

I bought Ranunculus - 20, Freesia - 20and Gladiolus - 45, as they were getting sold out quickly (impulse buying). This is my first time trying to plant bulbs/tubers in containers so need a bit of advice. I have 35cm pot and was wondering if it’s ok to mix them up and plant  them in two pots or I’m better off putting them in their own container so it’s easy to protect them in winter for next season.

Thanks in advance

Jay

Sorry gladioli in a 35cm pot?  Might be a bit small if it’s not very deep.
  • Hi it’s a bell shaped pot, so 11inches deep and 12inches in width at the top. Won’t work ?😞

May be too many for even two pots. What spacing is recommended on the packet?
East Dorset, new (to me) rather neglected garden.

You might get away with two or three in there but I’d suggest it won’t be ideal.  Here’s some tips for potting gladioli:

  • Many thanks @JoeX, good article. I planted them today in several pots including my spare potato grow bags. Now fingers crossed they come out good in summer.

    Cheers
