Birdfoot Trefoil

craig_hucraig_hu Posts: 1
Hello, I’ve grown lots of birdsfoot trefoil seedlings and want to plant them in pots as a focus plant for bees and butterflies- any hints on how densely the plants should go in to get a decent display without overcrowding? Also, will these plants grow ok in borders? Thanks in advance

  • I'm growing some this year too but I dont really know what I'm doing  :o. I've shoved quite a few in a pot. My understanding is that they're practically a weed so I just assume they're tough!
  • Do they germinate easily? I'd love to grow them.
  • I think they might be a bit invasive so I would guess they probably do.

There was a chap on GW last year who grew them in a pot.

  • I love their little flowers and that the polllinators love them too.

Agree with @madpenguin They really do not want to be in a pot and should be in the ground.
Yes they are brilliant for bees and if you can find the space for them anywhere in the ground go for it.

I've thought about growing them in hanging baskets too, after seeing it on GW. Hopefully they would seed around. I like the idea of wild flower hanging baskets
